Dance and Drama

Our Dance and Drama curriculum is ambitious, inclusive and designed for every pupil to enjoy and achieve, whether they are stepping on stage for the first time or already thrive in the spotlight. Through movement, voice, character and storytelling, pupils learn to communicate with confidence, work creatively with others and express ideas that build empathy, understanding and a strong sense of self.

We build confidence in a safe, encouraging environment where pupils are supported to take positive risks, perform regularly and celebrate progress. Resilience is developed through rehearsal: pupils learn that great performance is shaped through practice, purposeful feedback and the courage to try again. Creativity sits at the heart of everything we do; pupils explore a wide range of styles, themes and practitioners, developing imagination alongside discipline, focus and pride in producing high-quality work.

Across Key Stage 3, pupils follow a carefully sequenced journey where they learn to devise, script, characterise and perform, strengthening physical and vocal technique, ensemble skills, rehearsal discipline and the ability to refine and evaluate their work using subject-specific vocabulary. By Key Stage 4, pupils are equipped to perform with control and intention, create original work with a clear sense of purpose and respond thoughtfully to a variety of performance pieces.

Our enrichment offer brings the subject to life beyond the classroom. Pupils can get involved in drama club and dance opportunities, take part in exciting school productions, both onstage and behind the scenes, and enjoy theatre visits that inspire and broaden horizons. We also offer workshops with professional actors and dancers, giving pupils unforgettable experiences, new skills and a real insight into the performing arts world.
