Bellerive celebrates World Book Day in style
World Book Day was held on 7th March and we celebrated in style with Years 7-9 invited to don their favourite book character costumes.
The fun-filled day kicked off with an inter-form ‘Book Bonanza’ quiz during registration, followed by a ‘Whole School Read’ of the short story ‘We Can Get Them for You Wholesale’ by Neil Gaiman, which was read aloud to students in lessons throughout the day. Students also had the chance to turn book-detectives and join a ‘Character Matching Pairs Hunt’, tracking down participating members of staff to find out their character names and then hunting for their other halves, all to win some chocolatey treats, and a book of course!
As well as all students receiving an official World Book Day £1.00 Book Token, we also held a ‘Big Bellerive Book Giveaway’ in the library, where students could pick up a free copy of one this year’s special World Book Day titles. To top things off, we welcomed the return of the Scholastic Book Fair later in the month where students could make good use of their £1.00 book tokens.
With such fun and excitement had by all, we already can’t wait for next year!
