UKMT success

We are delighted with the recent successes in Maths competitions

Many congratulations to the Year 7 and 8 students who took part in the UKMT Junior Mathematical Challenge earlier this year. We were delighted that 20 of our girls were recognised as high scorers in this competition and were awarded prestigious UKMT certificates. Well done in particular to Alicia R, Nevaeh T, Lajin H and Julia K from Year 7, and Jhowlyn G, Emily L and Aniela F from Year 8, who all received silver awards putting them in the top 25% of entries nationally.

Additionally some students entered the MEM (Mathematical Education on Merseyside) Challenge and Senior Challenge for the first time this year. We are very proud of Faye H, Year 8, who achieved Best in School for the Challenge and was invited to an awards ceremony at the University of Liverpool on 16th May. Equally, huge congratulations to Mayan K from Year 10 who was awarded Highly Commended in the Senior Challenge, and also received a Best in School prize at a prize-giving evening the previous week.

Thank you to all students who took part and to parents who supported their preparation and involvement. We look forward to entering many more mathematics competitions next academic year. If students wish to be involved, they have the opportunity to attend weekly lunchtime sessions as part of the school’s extra-curricular programme
