Year 7 Transition Day
The transition from primary to secondary school is an important milestone in the lives of children and their families. At Bellerive, we pride ourselves in providing our new students, parents and carers with a smooth transition programme, where students arrive on their first day in September excited about the next chapter of their education, rather than feeling apprehensive.
We are currently in the process of organising visits to all our new students in their primary schools. These visits are used to explain what will happen on the Transition Day and allow the children to get to know a familiar face and ask any questions. Bellerive staff will also, wherever possible, spend some time with the Year 6 teacher, exchanging essential progress information and discussing any issues that
might affect the transition process.
The date for the Transition Day is Wednesday 2nd July 2025. We sincerely hope all the children will be able to attend Bellerive on this day, meet their new classmates and spend some time with their new Form teacher. Children are asked to arrive at Bellerive for 8:45am and should be collected at 2:30pm. Please ensure your daughter comes to school in her primary school uniform and wearing trainers as there may be some sporting activities throughout the day. We will provide lunch on the day but children can bring their own packed lunches should they prefer.
On the same afternoon (Wednesday 2nd July 2025) there will be a meeting in school for our new Year 7 parents and carers. This will take place from 1:45pm and will enable us to share key information with parents/carers whilst also allowing you to ask any questions you may still have to ensure a smooth transition for your daughter in September. It will also provide an opportunity to meet with Y7 Pastoral Staff as well as members of the Senior Leadership Team. Light refreshments will be provided. All information from this meeting will be made available on our school website after the event for any parents/carers who are unable to attend.
A ‘Transition’ booklet with all relevant information will also be forwarded to all
parents/carers in the forthcoming days. The new academic year for our new Year 7 students will begin at 8:45am on Wednesday 3rd September; students should enter school via the black gate on Ullet Road, Elmfield side. Students will be dismissed from the same gate at 3:20pm that afternoon.
School buses will not be available on the morning of Wednesday 3rd September due to a staggered start for other year groups. School buses will however, run at the usual scheduled times at the end of the day on Wednesday, and then from Thursday 4th September onwards. Bus passes will be distributed to those who have purchased one on Wednesday 3rd September ready for use; please refer to the school website for updated bus routes and timings.
Please look through our website at www.bellerivefcj.org for information about our school.
We look forward to welcoming your child and all of our new Y7 cohort for September
and building a strong partnership with parents/carers.
