Year 9 Group Notices
Welcome to Bellerive – Year 9
The theme in Year 9 is suitcases. A suitcase can symbolise many things, particularly a journey – packing with the necessities we need for our destination.
In Year 9 we begin planning our journey, we chose our GCSE options, we think about our next destination after our school years and we make sure that we are equipped for the next part of our journey.
If we pack our suitcase correctly, we will have all we need for our destination. In Year 9 we are beginning to pack our suitcases .
Well done to our Form Captains, Vice Captains and events co-ordinators – nominated by their Form classes recently.
Yr 9 Pathways
Spring term is a very important term for all Yr 9 students as they begin their journey in selecting the subjects that they will go to study in Yr 10 & 11 for GCSE’s. The whole process is called ‘Pathways’. During their PSHEE lessons the pupils will start to understand what choices they have and what each subject may entail. The group will also have the opportunity to attend a ‘Women in Business’ workshop, whereby they can ask questions of successful female role models who have a background in some non-traditional female sectors.
Important Dates for Yr 9 Students
Year 9 Literacy
Year 9 are thoroughly enjoying the opportunity to undertake independent reading during Form time and subject lessons to improve their literacy skills.
‘Drop everything and read’ is encouraged throughout the whole school – it is an excellent way to improve literacy skills and encourage some quiet time with your book!
